Bank holiday weekend welcomes Britain’s biggest street party….The Notting Hill carnival!
Fancy getting in the festival mood? Why not create your very own FIMO carnival mask, here’s how.
You will need:
FIMO air basic 500g
FIMO acrylic roller
FIMO gloss varnish
Modelling tool or knife
Acrylic or poster paints and accessories to decorate
Cut a mask template from folded paper and place on to half a block of FIMO air rolled approx. 4mm thick. Cut around the template, remembering to cut eye shapes, remove and smooth the edges of the cut FIMO air with wet fingers.
Using a pencil, make holes in each side of the mask approx. 10mm from the edge. Smooth the mask over an upturned bowl so it dries in a curved shape. Add tendrils around the eyes, curve the nose upwards slightly and allow to dry thoroughly.
Paint and allow to dry. Coat with FIMO gloss varnish and once this is dry, decorate your mask with feathers, ribbons and sequins. Thread elastic through the holes and tie a knot at each end.
FIMO TOP TIP
Allow 24 to 48 hours to dry thoroughly
